Second Chance Living LLC was founded on a simple belief: a stable door to step through changes everything. We provide supportive independent housing for veterans, seniors, survivors of domestic violence, county referrals, and anyone ready to turn a place into a home.

Derrick Robinson
Founder & CEO
Derrick Robinson was born and raised in Chicago. He knows first-hand how quickly a life can change — and how hard the road back can be.
When he was incarcerated and came home, he didn't have a steady place to stay. And time inside changes more than the calendar: you go in with people who love you, but the years keep moving without you. Some of the loved ones who were waiting were gone by the time he came home. He walked out free, but it felt like he didn't have anybody.
That's the moment Derrick understands better than anyone — and it's why Second Chance Living exists. Losing your people and your address at the same time shouldn't mean losing your footing in the community too. Derrick built this organization so that no one coming home — from prison, from loss, from any kind of setback — has to figure out housing alone. Every room we offer is the steady place he once needed: a place where a person can breathe, rebuild, find people again, and turn four walls into a home.
